Texas State University-San MarcosDave has been involved in developmental education for over 30 years teaching and coordinating learning centers in community colleges, four year colleges, and universities. He has written extensively in the field and is best known for his column TechTalk in the Journal of Developmental Education and his edited book with Rona Flippo, the Handbook of College Reading and Study Strategy Research. He is Professor of Education at Texas State University where he directs the developmental reading program and teaches in the Graduate Program in Developmental Education.

Texas State University-San MarcosRuss helped develop a 3-credit hour course at Texas State University in applied learning and cognition called Effective Learning for students seeking academic support that has received statewide recognition. Russ also coordinates programs for Texas State University's conditionally admitted students. He received his Ed.D specializing in Developmental Education from Grambling State University. Russ is past-president of CRLA, past-president of the Texas Chapter of the College Reading and Learning Association, and is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences. Russ has authored several articles in national journals, was a recipient of the CRLA national scholarship award, and recently published Academic transformation: The road to college success through Prentice-Hall.

Chemeketa Community College, Salem, OregonLucy received a Master's Degree in English from the University of Kansas and a Master's in Reading from the University of Oregon. She has been involved with integrating technology into the classroom for the last 20 years. She joined Dave in 1998 as co-author of the TechTalk column in the Journal of Developmental Education. Paradise Valley Community College, Phoenix, AZRick has been involved in learning assistance for more than twenty years and was the founding director of the Learning Assistance Center (1987-1996) at PVCC. He is the former Director of the Microcomputer Commons in charge of the centralized student-use computer lab (500+ computers) which houses one centralized open lab with eleven class labs (1996-2005). During that time, he initiated a faculty and staff technology training program for software use and web creation. In 2005, he returned to his position as Learning Center Director. Rick is the president-elect of CRLA.

Todd Phillips
Title III Activity Director, Learning Specialist
East Central College
Union, MOTodd has been involved in preparing the underprepared for over 12 years. Getting his start working with at-risk and youth gang members in Los Angeles helped prepare him for his work in developmental education and directing the Learning Center at East Central College. Currently Todd is the Director of Title III Activity where he supervises the First Year Experience program, Academic Improvement Management (early alert retention program), learning center training, faculty development pilots infusing technology into the curriculum, and several other assessment and grant projects. He is a Kellogg Alumni and is past-president of the Midwest Regional Association for Developmental Education and serves as Political Liaison Chair for NADE.
